Seniors Section

A warm welcome to the Seniors Section of our website. If you are 55 years or over you will be most welcome to join the Section, whether coming to the game new, looking for a new club or wanting to move on to a more relaxed approach to the game.

The Section has an active membership, meeting on Wednesdays to compete in Monthly Medal, Winter and Summer Leagues, Trophy events and Captains Choice, fun events. Our approach is to encourage a spirit of social integration and we do this by selecting partners each week using a random draw. Before long you get to play with and enjoy the company of all of our members. Members take advantage of the Clubhouse to meet and mingle after play and a post-match meal is arranged by the Committee around Medal days and special events.

Throughout the year there are Singles and Doubles knockout competitions organised between members. Thanks to the effort of a few individual members there are also regular away trips organised to compete at other venues. Some are away-days and some are one or two night stay and play events.

There is no limit to how much or how little you can participate but rest assured there is a great spirit that flows within the Seniors. The Section elects a small Committee annually to manage activities throughout the year. The Committee comprises a Chairman (retired Captain), Captain, Vice- Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and two other Members.

The Senior Section supports the Garden House Hospice charity and raises money through raffles at special events and through regular donations’ – should you decide to drive your ball into the pond on the 18th or into the current Captains choice of hazard!

In addition to our Club day there is a roll-up every Monday and Friday; just turn up by 8:15 and again its a random draw to go out in a three-ball Stableford competition. The Seniors have a calendar of Inter-club matches where we put together a twelve-man team to compete against six other local Clubs at both home and away. This is a great chance to compete competitively in Matchplay competitions. Over the course of the year more than one-third of the Section will volunteer and compete in these events. A full calendar of Senior fixtures is available in the Fixtures Section.
